It is with great pleasure that the Pulpit Ministry Team recommends William Jackson “Jack” Homesley for the position of Senior Pastor. Rev. Homesley received a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Columbia Bible College and Seminary, a division of Columbia International University, in Columbia, SC in 1989. He majored in Bible and minored in Pastoral Ministry. In 1990, he served as interim pastor of Statesville Avenue Baptist Church for six months following his graduation from Columbia Bible College. For the past twenty-five years he has been the senior pastor of Christ Community Church, a contemporary, theologically conservative, Southern Baptist Church in Huntersville, NC. Rev. Homesley has been used of the Lord to grow Christ Community Church from a church of less than fifty to over one thousand members in the last twenty-five years. He led the church through the acquisition of new property, a complete relocation, and construction of at least five new buildings and a worship center. He has served as a member of the Board of Trustees at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC for eight years and eventually served as Chairman of Trustees for a one-year term. He currently serves on the Board of Visitors for that institution. He teaches and participates annually in the Tarheel Leadership Network with Dr. Steve Corts, whose father was his mentor.

Even before he was contacted by Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Homesley was feeling the Lord’s leadership to a new challenge. He has maintained a love for the westside of Charlotte, this community, and his “home” church and has prayed for them over the years. Rev. Homesley’s driving force is a love for Christ, obedience to His call and will, and a passion for world evangelization. He is committed to preaching God’s Word in a way that is practical, understandable, and life-changing. Rev. Homesley’s spiritual gifts include preaching and teaching, evangelism, mercy, and helps. He considers some of his strengths to be pastoral care, personal warmth, preaching, motivation of individuals, and leadership. His ambition is to help people exchange the lies of this world for the truth of God’s Word and see the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ carried to the ends of the earth. Rev. Homesley is extensively involved in world missions. He encourages members to get personally involved in missions. Several of his former members now serve in India full time with the International Mission Board and many members have entered full-time vocational ministry. Christ Community Church has been able to see over 1,000 churches planted in areas that previously had no Christian witness.

Rev. Homesley was born in Charlotte, NC and is married to his wife Kim. They have three children, Jonathan, who is in full time ministry, Amy, and Rachel, both of whom have been called into international missions, and two grandchildren, Olivia and Lincoln. They currently live in Cornelius, NC. He was led to faith by Rev. Tony Harper and Rev. Roger Hardee on August 13, 1984, and was baptized here at Calvary Baptist Church. He is one of our “preacher boys” and was licensed and ordained by Calvary Baptist Church. Kim is a Proverbs 31 woman who is wonderfully kind and godly, a great mother and wife. She is both supportive and encouraging to his ministry. Rev. and Mrs. Homesley enjoy camping, motorcycling, and fishing. Their favorite location is the beach. Rev. Homesley also enjoys working on motorcycles.

Rev. Homesley and his family will be present at a church social in the Fellowship Hall building on Saturday Night, August 15th, 2015, for the purpose of meeting the church membership. He will be preaching his trial sermon the following Sunday Morning, August 16th, 2015. Immediately following the sermon the church will be called into church conference to vote on the call of Rev. Homesley. If called, Rev. Homesley will begin his duties on September 20th, 2015.
